Vance County Emergency Operations is made up of two emergency service entities, 911 and Emergency Management. While independent from one another these two organizations are co-located and work hand in hand with each other. Having these two departments integrated together enhances our ability to plan for and respond to critical incidents and disasters.
The Fire and Ambulance Department has twenty-two full-time employees and eleven part-time employees. The department operates two fire engines and eight ambulances continuously on a twenty-four hour basis. Our emergency medical personnel service operates at the “Paramedic ” level.
North Carolina Cooperative Extension is based at North Carolina’s two land-grant institutions, NC State University and NC A&T State University, in all 100 counties and with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
The Planning and Development Department strives for excellence in serving the citizens of Vance County with state-mandated building inspections for all phases of construction as well as the administration and enforcement of all development plans and related ordinances. The Department is also a provider of GIS and mapping services which includes maintenance of the County’s electronic tax maps and mapping data.
