Vance County Vital Records Request is now Online!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Vance County Register of Deeds website.  The Register of Deeds is an elected official who is custodian and manager of a large number of Public Records.  We are subject to North Carolina General Statutes governing the care and maintenance of these records and making them accessible to the public.

Real property documents are recorded in the Register of Deeds Office.  Deeds, Deeds of Trust, Assignments, UCC’s, Leases, Satisfactions, Powers of Attorney, Plats and other instruments pertaining to real property are presented for registration, recorded, indexed and permanently preserved.  Security copies are also sent to the Department of Archives in Raleigh.  Our land records date back to 1881.

We also house many other public records such as Vance County Births and Deaths dating back to 1913.    Marriage licenses issued in Vance County, notary oaths, and military discharges are also maintained in the Register of Deeds Office.  All records in the Register of Deeds office are public record except the DD214 military discharges.  The military records are not accessible by mail, they must be obtained in person or through the local Veteran Service Office.  Notaries Public that are commissioned by the Secretary of State for Vance County must take their oath  in the Register of Deeds Office.

Our fees are set by the North Carolina General Statute.

We strive to provide the highest level of customer service while maintaining proper enforcement of the laws.
