Vance County Appoints D. Scott Elliott as Interim County Manager

Vance County is pleased to announce the appointment of D. Scott Elliott as the Interim County Manager. With a wealth of experience in local government management and a proven track record of achieving operational excellence, Elliott brings a dynamic and results-oriented approach to this crucial role.  Elliott recently retired from Pitt County as County Manager after 20 years with the county. Through the professional organizations of the ICMA and NCCCMA, he also serves as a Senior Advisor to local government managers in North Carolina.

As a seasoned leader in local government management, Elliott has consistently delivered positive outcomes and demonstrated exceptional leadership skills. Recognized for his ability to efficiently utilize resources, foster relationships, and build consensus, he is well-positioned to drive the county towards greater success.

In his role as the Interim County Manager, Elliott will oversee the day-to-day operations of Vance County and work closely with elected officials, department heads, and staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to residents.

Elliott’s appointment as Interim County Manager was effective June 1, 2023. Vance County is excited to embark on this new chapter under his capable leadership and looks forward to the positive impact he will make.
