Adoption is the legal process that bestows on the adoptive parent(s) all the rights and responsibilities of a biological parent, and gives the child being adopted all the social, emotional, and legal rights and responsibilities of a family member. When children in foster care are not able to return to their parents, we are committed to utilizing all available resources to find a “forever family” for the child.
Adoption Services we provide:
-
Find permanent homes for children free for adoption
- Assess and complete study of prospective adoptive parents
- Seek families most suited to child’s needs
- Adoption services including home studies, adoption assistance, and other services
In cases where the child becomes free for adoption, foster parents may be considered as prospective adoptive parents. Adoptive parents in Vance County must complete the same 30 hour training as our foster parents and must meet all State licensing requirements.
